I wanted to see if there's any interest in sharing rides to Hartwell, GA, on the border with South Carolina, for the Hartwell Challenge of the Centuries. To quote them, it is "Open to cyclists and accomplished skaters!" I'm still not sure I can go, but if someone else is interested and we can cut the costs, it'd be fun. It's bike or skate, and it's well supported, with routes of 35, 62, and 100 each day. Skate over the Lake Hartwell dam on Sunday on all routes. It's cool. The sweetest thing is you have the option of sleeping in the gymnasium or setting up a tent on the school grounds (or getting a hotel) on Friday and Saturday. I could leave Friday eve or early a.m. Saturday to arrive in time to register (any time after 6:30 a.m.), and we could talk about when we'd come back...either Sunday after the event or perhaps on Monday if we were to plan a skate on the Silver Comet Trail for Monday. I have to be back Tuesday by 8am that's all I know. So this is just to see if there's any interest at all. If so, call me or email with the word, ringphone, in the subject line for faster processing. http://www.hartcom.net/bikeride/ $30 for one day; $40 for two. Friday, May 23, 7:00-9:00 PM Registration, campground open Saturday, May 24 6:30 AM Packet pick-up, registration begins Saturday, May 24 8:00 AM Ride starts Saturday, May 24 TBA Ice Cream Social Saturday, May 24 8:00 PM Choice of movies Sunday, May 25:30 AM Registration opens Sunday, May 25 8:00 AM Ride starts skateylove, roadskater

Hartwell Challenge

I can't hear the name of this event without thinking of the Fleetwood Mac song "Gold Dust Woman" and the line that goes, "Heartless challenge, pick your path and I'll pray."

I hope that she didn't make you cry, make you break down, or shatter your illusions of love this weekend. I'm looking forward to your report.
